Discover a world of surreal art at the Joan Miró museum in Barcelona. Enter the world of the famous Catalan artist Joan Miró and explore a treasure of surrealist, fauvist and expressionist masterpieces in a museum located in Parc de Montjüic. Explore an extensive collection of modern and contemporary painting and sculpture with up to 8,000 drawings, 217 paintings and 178 sculptures, as well as ceramics, textiles and graphic works. With a unique vision of the world, and thanks to his use of bold colors and organic shapes, Miró became one of the most influential figures in the world of Art. He is known for his paintings, sculptures, murals and ceramic works. Ernest Hemingway compared Miró's painting La Masía (which he bought) to James Joyce's Ulysses. Although he was not a writer, Joan Miró tried to explain how he worked with colors to express his ideas, “I try to use colors like words that form poems, like notes that form music.”
