Our trip through the backstreets of Toyama will begin with a ride on the local bus through the city to the riverside neighborhood. After arriving at our stop we will start our walk along the river past jizo statues and gardens tended by the residents. When we reach the spring water source we can bottle and drink the cold fresh water and learn about the history of the spring. In fact, locals come at all hours to bottle this water for use at home. We will continue our walk to the shopping street and stop by the grocery store to buy local vegetables for lunch and see what the seasons have to offer. Afterward, we will continue our stroll and arrive at our final destination, a guesthouse where we will learn how to make onigiri with a variety of fillings. Then you can enjoy your handmade onigiri with miso soup for lunch. The rice and miso soup will be made with spring water and local vegetables.
