Overview
September 19, 2021 marked a before and after on the Island of La Palma. The Plaza de Tajuya became an improvised and privileged viewpoint of the Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption. From this famous and well-known place, we will be able to see how the physiognomy of the landscape changed after 84 days of intense activity.

It takes us into the new path that has been created specifically to get close to the cone of the Tajogaite volcano.
With a gentle hiking route lasting approximately 2.5 hours, we will see different control and measurement instruments with which the process continues to be studied today. We will be amazed to see how the Canary Islands pine, once again, wins the battle against the catastrophes and, ultimately, how this natural phenomenon has transformed the Aridane Valley.
We will end with the most beautiful sunset on the entire island and we will return to the beginning.

Meeting point
To get there from the capital, we must take LP 2 towards Los Llanos - El Paso. Once we have crossed the Summit Tunnel, we will have on the left the entrance to the Recreational Area of La Pared Vieja and Refugio de El Pilar. After 3 km we will have reached the Llano del Jable area. There is the parking lot and our guide, who will have previously contacted you, will be waiting for you to start the journey. Point for lovers of Astronomy on the Island. Our Guide qualified in Mountaineering will be waiting for you to start this incredible journey through nature.

What To Expect
From the Starting Point, we will begin our marked trail until we reach the closest allowed point of the new volcano. We will see how nature has not only buried numerous buildings but also how the fauna is so resistant that it fights for survival and new forms of life are already beginning to emerge. We will end with one of the best sunsets that can be seen on the Island right now.
