Miyajima has been venerated as a sacred island since remote antiquity. Home to Itsukushima Shrine, which is registered as a World Heritage site, and recognized as one of Japan’s trinity of “three famous sights,” Miyajima is a magnet for tourists that has spellbound countless visitors. In May 2023, when world leaders gathered in Hiroshima for the G7 Hiroshima Summit, the leaders and their spouses paid a visit to Miyajima. You’ll enjoy the same experiences as these visitors, savor the magic of a Miyajima evening and receive premium content that can only be experienced here.
Guided by a local interpreter, you’ll stroll around the island; tour Miyajima History and Folklore Museum; view a performance of Kagura, a traditional Hiroshima art of music and dancing, at Momijidani Park; and enter Itsukushima Shrine after the gates have closed, for a special Shrine visit and mesmerizing projection mapping show telling the story of Miyajima from ancient times to the present.
