‘’Big Cave’’, or Vela Spila as the locals call it, isn't just any cave – it’s one of Europe's most important prehistoric archeological sites. This 2 hours private walking tour offers an intimate and personalized destination experience with a local guide.
On the tour, you will hear the story about Vela Spila Cave: the cradle of Western civilization, where climate change has been recorded from the last ice age to the present. You will also learn more about the small Mediterranean town of Vela Luka that lies beneath.

What To Expect
Vela Luka
We will meet in the small park, close to the gas station. The park is tagged on Google Maps as the one with Monument Mosaic at Obala 3. Link to Google Maps: https://shorturl.at/eIfxO After we meet, the walking tour will start heading for Vela Spila.

Your guide will take you through the story about Vela Spila Cave: the cradle of Western civilization, a place where climate change has been recorded from the last ice age to the present. You will also have some time to take photos as Vela Spila has a fantastic panoramic view.

Vela Luka
On our way back will walk through the charming, stone-paved streets where your guide will share some facts about living on this southern Croatian island today. Last stop on our way will be St. Joseph Church.
