Your private one-day tour begins with a convenient pickup from your chosen location in Zagreb. Our comfortable vehicle and friendly guide will ensure a pleasant start to your journey. We then set off for a scenic two-hour drive through the mountainous region of Gorski Kotar. As we travel, you'll be treated to stunning views of lush forests and majestic mountain peaks, providing a picturesque backdrop to your journey. Our first destination is the Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Trsat in Rijeka.

Shrine of Our Lady of Trsat

The shrine is believed to have been established following the miraculous transportation of the Holy House of Nazareth by angels to Trsat in 1291, before it was later moved to Loreto, Italy. This event is commemorated by the shrine and attracts many pilgrims annually. The shrine complex includes the Church of Our Lady of Trsat, a beautiful example of Gothic and Baroque architecture. At the heart of the shrine is the revered icon of Our Lady of Trsat, a Byzantine-style painting of the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child. This icon is believed to have miraculous powers and is a focal point for the faithful who come to seek solace and blessings. Adjacent to the shrine is a Franciscan monastery, which has been a center for religious education, cultural preservation, and community service for centuries. The monks of the monastery play a crucial role in maintaining the shrine and assisting pilgrims.

Kastav's old town is characterized by narrow cobblestone streets, well-preserved medieval buildings, and stone houses that reflect its historical significance. Church of St. Helen (Sveta Jelena Krizarica): This Baroque church, dedicated to St. Helen, the town's patron saint, is a prominent landmark in Kastav.
