David will tell you about the fascinating history of the places we visit, with lots of vintage photographs & sketches along the way.
This is the ideal first Introduction to Edinburgh with a local guide & resident of 50 years. Many of our guests say they wish they'd done this tour first!
David is 3x Commended in Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year, and will help you capture beautiful photos of Edinburgh, that you might not have the time to find, or discover, by yourself.
This 4hr walking tour covers 1.8 miles on foot. Guests should be in good health & fitness.

What To Expect
We'll meet in the heart of the New Town in lovely St Andrew Square. David will explain the history of the Old Town and the development of the New Town, and start showing you some important photography tips to greatly improve your photography.

James Clerk Maxwell Statue
While admiring the magnificent statue of this celebrated physicist & mathematician, James Clerk Maxwell, David will show you a very useful photographic technique to add depth and interest to your photos. We'll also learn what an inspiration Maxwell was to Albert Einstein, who held him in great esteem.

Commissioned by the then proprietor of the Scotsman Newspaper and opened in 1890, David will show you his highlights of the world's first dedicated portrait gallery. We'll visit one of the countries most beautiful halls and a stunning library with some rather gruesome masks! David will explain the importance of light in photography, and how to control your exposure, particularly on smartphones, for better photos.
