Visit Copenhagen

Copenhagen is often described as one of Europe’s best cities. And with its rich culture, stunning architecture, amazing food, and great nightlife, it’s easy to see why. Copenhagen was also the home of famed fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen. Don’t miss the colorful 17th-century waterfront at Nyhavn, the Little Mermaid Statue, the Tivoli Gardens, and the majestic fortress of Kastellet.

Explore Kronborg Castle

Denmark is full of remarkable castles, but the 16th-century  Kronborg Castle is special. Located along the coast in Helsingør, it is famous for having inspired the setting for Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The impressive castle is full of lavish halls and dark underground passages. Actors also regularly perform Hamlet here.

Wander Through Frederiksborg Castle

One of the country’s most impressive buildings, this massive Dutch Renaissance–styled fortress-palace Hillerød was built in the early 17th century for King Christian IV. Built across three islets, the Slotssøen (castle lake) also has a large Baroque garden, and the portrait filled Museum of National History.

Experience Legoland

Located conveniently near Copenhagen is the exciting Legoland in Billund. With over 50 rides, miniature Lego cities, and themed areas, it is truly a treat for children and adults alike. While an admission ticket covers all the rides inside the park, it may be slightly cheaper if you buy your tickets in advance online.

Go Back in Time at Roskilde 

Also near Copenhagen is the picturesque city of Roskilde. Once the capital of Denmark between 960 to 1536, it is full of old-fashioned architecture, brick-lined streets, and fascinating cathedrals. It is also the site of the Viking Ship Museum, one of the best Viking museums in the country. Here, visitors can actually sail on 1000-year old Viking boats!

See the Cliffs at Møns Klint

One of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Danish countryside, the chalk cliffs of Møns Klint are the perfect getaway. Standing 120 meters above sea level, they go on for almost 6 kilometers and have excellent cycling paths. Explore the lush woodlands, placid ponds, and rolling hills.

Danish people are known for their easygoing ways and excellent food. While English is widely spoken, learning a few sentences of Danish go a long way in making you feel at home.
