Before I tell you about Sabah being a place to holiday, let me tell you why you need a holiday in Sabah. The statement isn’t too confusing. You will be able to relate to every word I say.

Who am I?

You’ve been working for hours-on-end without giving your body or mind the peace it needs. You’ve been burnt out so much that being a robot is mechanical to you (saw what I did there). You’ve not spent time with your family that you’ve almost forgotten how they look. You haven’t experienced the sun or the moon on the beach. You’ve said I love you to your office boy more than you have anyone else because he serves you tea on time. You’ve experienced nothing new in the last few months. You’ve had the worst appraisal with no fault of yours. You’ve become so accustomed to the routine that your laziness shadows interest to go out and socialize. You’ve forgotten how fun you are.

Where do I go?

Assuming you do want to get your butt out of the chair and actually go for a holiday, pending approvals from your bosses and their drama – never decide on places that are highly populated with your own people. I mean that with the at most respect for your people, but meeting and interacting with new cultures is one of the most beautiful feelings ever. There will be something or the other you guys can connect over, even if you don’t speak the language. Sometimes exploring the unknown, creates the best memories.

Sabah is a Mystery

I heard about this place in fleeting conversation. And once I researched, I realized that this heaven is untouched by a vast majority of the world. So, when I reached Sabah there was no expectation – there was an air of mystery and curiosity. Being to a new place you gauge the people, the surrounding, the weather, the stall in the airport, the toilet – everything comes under the scanner because you want to compare it to your previous travels and a sense of what you can expect. But Sabah failed to give a clue. I bet even Sherlock Holmes would have issues finding that one thing that could define and deconstruct the mystery of Sabah.

Unexpected Surprises

Imagine walking out to people having the most welcoming faces ever. It was like in Sabah, schools taught them more to smile than any other emotion – it was the most delightful thing to have witnessed for one week. They were even sweet to apologize for something that isn’t in their control – weather. Indians being used to the sun and humidity, wouldn’t complain one bit about this place because you really wouldn’t have the time to. The beauty that surrounds this place is listed as one of the best in the world. The islands, the city, the hotel resorts and the activities – all give you an experience you can never get anywhere else. What elevates this place, even more, is the natural connection to Mother Nature. In one of my previous pieces (Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Sabah) I had detailed out the effect nature has on this place – from wildlife to flora & fauna.

Experience Differently

The idea of being to a completely new place is as exciting as knowing that it is going to be one of the most epic holidays you have had. Everything you want to do on land, water, and air – you can do it in Sabah. There is no better way to holiday because the Sabahan way treats you the best.
