In the 14th century, the fort faced its first major test when it was besieged by the Delhi Sultanate under Alauddin Khilji. The siege lasted for several months, and the defenders, led by Queen Padmini, displayed great bravery and courage. Chittorgarh faced subsequent invasions by the Mughals and other dynasties over the centuries. In 1567, Chittorgarh witnessed the siege by the Mughal Emperor Akbar.
